
In addition to tall buildings, downtown had several tourist
attractions, a huge convention
center, and a humongous casino, which I did not choose to visit or photograph.
They are trying to rebuild their economy by attracting convention visitors.
Downtown is next to the Mississippi River.
Riverwalk is a long skinny shopping center built high above
the riverfront. It was recently
refurbished and reopened. The levels are built like stair steps, not above
each other.

I thought it was funny that this bird was perched on a sign
telling about birds on the balcony of Riverwalk.
Behind the bird is a view of the Mississippi River.
The Spanish plaza is a reminder of the Spanish heritage of New
Orleans.
The concrete benches surrounding the fountain display the coats-of-arms
of different provinces (and families, I guess) in Spain.

MoonwalkUnlike Riverwalk, Moonwalk actually is There were statues, including this one honoring immigrants. The person behind the family is a ship figurehead looking out toward the river. Moonwalk was also a good place to watch boats
