Death of William McKinstry
William McKinstry passed away last Thursday at 8:p.m. at his home ten miles north of Pinckneyville, after an illness of over four months, aged 73 years. Funeral sevices were conducted Saturday at 10 a.m. at his residence by Rev. Eiliop and Rev. Hempbill of Swanwick, his remains were laid to rest in the Chapman cemetery, Three Mile. Deceased was one of the early pioneers to the northern part of Perry county, being a resident of Beaucoup precinct for 49 years. He was born in Antrim county Ireland 1830. In 1850 he married to Miss Agnes Smith. To this union four children were born, two of whom are living. The following year he came to America, after working three years in New Jersey, he came to Ill., in 1854. His first work here was on the I.C.R.R (Illinois Central Railroad). In 1959 he bought the homestead on which he lived, to the time of his death. His first wife died the same year. In 1859 he was married to Mrs. Hannah Hunter. Of the four children born to them two are living. Hannah died January 17, 1888. In 1889 he was married to Mrs. Margaret A. Nelson, who survives him, besides his wife, thirteen grandchildren and many friends, four sons are left to mourn his loss. They are Andrew, David, Tom and Willie McKinstry. Peace to his memory. |

Update: The Chapman cemetery is no longer there. Instead there is a dirt bike track. Obviously someone bought the property containing the cemetery and just bulldozed the resting place of a lot of people. Shame on them! |
